I am mainly looking for passionate, talented, and motivated graduate students (Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science) right now. Before contacting me, please take a careful look at the admission page of the School of Computing (Link). KAIST has two admission cycles a year. Deadlines are different for domestic and international applicants. It is your responsibility to keep up with the important dates.

For master's program applicants, you do not have to contact me, but it is highly recommended. Note that KAIST (and other universities in Korea) generally assumes "research master's" degrees that require a thesis for graduation. If you have completed a Bachelor's degree in a computing-related area, you will have to take a coding test. Although non-CS major applicants are not required to take a coding test, I prefer to work with students with strong programming skills.

For Ph.D. program applicants, you must contact me before applying. We will then schedule a short meeting (remote or in-person). At KAIST (and other universities in Korea), a Master's degree is required when applying for a Ph.D. program. KAIST's Master's-Ph.D. integrrated programs are highly selective.

For undergraduate internships and visiting students, I am willing to work with highly motivated students, so feel free to contact me if you are interested. This opportunity is highly contingent on financial availability.

When contacting me for graduate positions and undergraduate internships, please attach a CV and 1- to 2-page statement (both preferably in English). I am looking for students with strong programming, design, writing, and communication skills. If you are a current KAIST student and looking for a graduate position, I prefer to work with students who have worked with me previously.

For Postdocs, I do not have a concrete plan at the moment, but please do not feel hesitated to contact me with a CV. We will first have in-person/remote discussion. Along the discussion, I will request a 3-page research statement; if you already have one, feel free to attach it when you are contacting me. Eventually, you will need two recommendation letters.

For international applicants, I use English as a primary language in my research group. KAIST provides most of the courses in English and has a Korean language education program as well. You will also need to obtain a foreign student VISA (D-2 for students, info / E-3 for postdocs). KAIST's international office will support you.
